Dr. Matthew Paul Rupert has training and experience in both engineering and medicine. He graduated summa cum laude in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and later completed graduate studies in Biomechanical Engineering, also summa cum laude. He was the first student in the College of Engineering to complete a full pre-med curriculum along with his core engineering credits, paving the way for a current dual admissions program. Engineering accomplishments revolved around medical device development in both the university and private sectors. He completed his Medical Doctorate at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
Post-graduate medical training included General Surgery in Cincinnati, OH, Anesthesia at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and Interventional Pain Medicine at Texas Tech University as Chief Fellow. He was awarded the prestigious FIPP (Fellow of Interventional Pain Medicine) from the World Institute of Pain. He continues to teach internationally with this organization. He has additional board certification as a DABIPP (Diplomat of American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians). Through this parent organization, ASIPP, he continues various roles including lecturer, cadaver instructor and board member. He practices full time in Middle Tennessee with patients seeking his services from as far as California and Central America. He remains a thought leader with implantable neurostimulation devices and is an expert in treatment for head and neck pain. He is an active advocate for endoscopic spine surgery and regenerative injectable therapies. He has held roles in post-market FDA studies – SENSE, TARGET and Activate.
He is happily married and lives in Franklin, TN. He is actively involved in teaching and coaching his 3 children in sports and 4H projects.
Active Board Certifications include: Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, Interventional Pain Medicine, and Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice.
